Centennial Scholarships 2012 – applications close 31 May

A reminder that applications to the Royal Aeronautical Society Centennial Scholarship scheme close on 31 May 2012. The fund is open to those seeking suppport for tuition fees in subjects relating to aerospace and aviation and to people and organisations running national STEM and aerospace programmes to encourage young people into the field.

Join us for the ‘In orbit’ Lecture from ESA astronaut Paolo Nespoli (free to attend). A Royal Aeronautical Society Careers & Space Group public lecture, Saturday, 28 April 2012. 14.00 for a 14.30 start. Venue: No.4 Hamilton Place, London, W1J 7BQ. We are very pleased to welcome ESA astronaut and Italian citizen Paolo Nespoli to the Royal Aeronautical Society for a special lecture as part of the Mission X educational programme. Paolo will provide an overview of his career – focusing on the highlights of his astronaut training, and long duration mission to the International Space Station. The talk will be aimed at both adults and children and will make a great family afternoon out as well as appeal to space professionals. There is no charge to attend, however due to limited place numbers please do register in advance by contacting careers@aerosociety.com or call 020 7670 4325/6.

Now in its ninth year, Centennial Scholarship Fund was launched in celebration of one hundred years of flight and to look forward to the next generation of aerospace pioneers and experts in the 21st Century.

On 28 November, the inaugural Young Persons’ Lecture Evening and Awards Reception took place at the Royal Aeronautical Society’s headquarters in London. Organised by and for young people, the event comprised lectures on aerodynamics given by two young people and the presentation of the Society’s Centennial Scholarships and Young Persons Medals and Awards.
