A proportion of the proceeds which the Royal Aeronautical Society receives from the sale of this merchandise will be used towards the conservation of historic aviation material held in the extensive archives of the National Aerospace Library at Farnborough, recording the evolution of Man’s attempts to conquer the dream of flight from prehistory to modern times.
Access to these images is only possible thanks to a major project that was undertaken to digitise this key historic material which was undertaken by Max Communications Ltd. in July 2011, being funded from a bequest of $ 10,000 donated specifically to the Library in the estate of the former NASA scientist Dr. Charles E. Billings FRAeS.
