40 Delegates representing over 30 RAeS Branches attended the 102nd Branches Conference on the 11/12th May. The conference took place at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel Accrington and was jointly hosted by the Chester, Manchester and Preston Branches of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
During the conference, delegates were invited to contribute to workshop discussions and consider the priorities and initiatives to be addressed by their representatives on the Branches Committee over the next 12 months. During his closing address to conference, RAeS President Lee Balthazor paid tribute to the ‘professionalism’ of the Branch network volunteers and stressed the vital role they play within the Society. Mr Balthazor concluded by congratulating conference on seeking to address the issues of today and formulate the key strategies for tomorrow.
As part of the conference itinerary, delegates also enjoyed a technical visit which was kindly hosted by SAFRAN Aircelle at their Burnley facility. Aircelle is one of the leading players in the global nacelle market, and has a workforce of 3000 (900 based in Burnley). Aircelle produces large and small nacelles, thrust reversers and aerostructures.
