The Corporate Partner Seminar is an annual half day event held for the benefit of the Society’s Corporate Partners, with a focus on key projects and topics in civil and military aerospace for the year ahead. This event always takes place at the start of the year and attracts high level industry attendance from a wide cross-section of aerospace companies.
The 2012 event took place on Wednesday 25 January and provided a fascinating programme with a broad mix of speakers from industry, academia and the RAF. With lunch, refreshments and an evening drinks reception included, attendees also enjoyed excellent networking opportunities with plenty of time to mix with guest speakers and fellow Corporate Partners.
In terms of content, the event provided updates on military operations post Libya from PJHQ, precision weapon systems from MBDA, A400M from Airbus and UAS developments from BAE Systems.
On the civil side, we were joined by Paul Dickinson from Virgin Atlantic Airways who gave a global airline perspective on meeting customer expectations.
Two speakers gave updates on aerospace materials in the UK – Adrian Allen from AMRC with Boeing spoke on new technologies for future metallic structures production and Peter Chivers from the National Composites Centre focused on the role of the NCC in developing aerospace composites.
The programme concluded with an insightful presentation on the global defence and security export market, provided by Chris Baker from the Defence & Security Organisation, UKTI.
Attendance at this event was an exclusive benefit of RAeS corporate membership. Click here for full details on how to become a Corporate Partner. Details of future Corporate Partners events can be found on our events page.
